Oh these are awesome! Ok, this is a stupid newbie question but did you modify them in some way, like the coloring and contrast? Cause it looked like you did, they're so gorgeously soft and dramatic and perfect, but I didn't know you could even do that to gifs (I know next to nothing about gifs, mostly cause I don't use them). Great job!
Yes, they are modified and put together a free program called PhotoScape, following a tutorial by the awesome strbrryseason on tumblr (here's a wonderful set she did: http://strbrryseason.tumblr.com/post/15704078699/farscape-chiana-jool
I'll email you screencaps of the settings she used as an example, which is what I used here. I've also done my own thing with other sets, such as this one: http://arevhat.tumblr.com/post/18128586337/this-is-one-of-the-good-days-farscape-117
And this little one: http://arevhat.tumblr.com/post/18906235374
Gifs are time consuming (for me) but I like the finished product. Basically, you take screencaps of what you want - every 3rd frame is a good rule of thumb if you're not using a program that does it automatically. PS might. PSE doesn't. So I do it in Ulead. Then I run the caps through the PhotoScape batch editor, once or twice, depending on the desired effect, and then use the animated gif function to create the gif :)
Woow, that was an awesome explanation, thank you so much! And I also love the other gifs by you, the ttlg ones are so colorful! Also aaw, those chi/jool gifs are lovely, thanks for the link. I might try making gifs one day. Right now I'm way too busy but hey, soon it'll be summer vacation and plenty of time on my hands and there are only so many 20in20s... :D

I do prefer icons to gifs - I find them much more artistic and interesting. But gifs are fun too, and a nice diversion :)
