This was the first episode of Farscape that I loved, as well as the episode that made me love the main characters. I could write an essay but I'm exhausted and should save essays for possible rewatches anyway ;-)
This is where the show really starts to gel, I think...each episode from this point on had something that made me sit up and take notice of how different it was from what I was expecting :)
I love your pic choices. And what you've done with the colours on what is quite a dark episode is great!
And that picture of the Zelbinion.... When we see that, first reflected in Rygel's eye, is one of the 'wow' visual moments for me in FS that got me hooked.
I thought I would wind up going for the closeup of Rygel's eye but I didn't look as good as a still as it did in the show...and now I associate "eye openers" with Lost ;)
For me, the first episode I loved was probably DNA Mad Scientist, but this one was good too. Even though it started the shippiness
Lovely pics again. As an episode this one wasn't nearly as bright and pretty as most of the previous ones, so I imagine this must have been more difficult this time, but you've still managed to make these as beautiful as ever! The first one os my favorite, I don't usually even like pictures with no people (/aliens) in them but the light is so very pretty, as is the bright orange. <3 The Rygel one and the Aeryn&Gilina one are two of my favorite shots in the ep, really beautiful. Also love all three Aeryns, they look so soft and full of emotion at the same time.
(I'm having difficulty to comment on these picspams cause I feel like I always say the same thing but they really are always that awesome :') And you have this very distinctive style, I don't know how I'd describe it but I know it has to do with pretty bright colors and making the image look 'soft' in some mysterious way.)
It's funny you mention the shippiness - that's what my essay was going to be about LOL So many people see shippiness in this (indeed, someone on Tumblr commented they didn't like it because Gilina was "competition" for Aeryn) but I don't see that at all...I don't see romantic jealousy, at least not at its core. Gilina is familiar enough, human enough, to ease John's homesickness, and at the same time she's familiar enough, Peacekeeper enough, to make Aeryn's worse. She's also a smart, brave, wonderful character in her own right.
I think there's an edge of romantic jealousy in Aeryn but I think mostly she is jealous of the ease with which Gilina interacts with him in general, their like-mindedness and ability to work together - and get along - when they've only just met. Every social situation has been a struggle for Aeryn since she landed on Moya, especially those with John. And she does like him. And this is early enough that she still wants to go home but she can't but Gilina can and that's tearing her up inside.
The goodbye, and the mutual respect and understanding, between the two women is one of my favorite Farscape moments.
I also love seeing more of Rygel's past and him overcoming it, juxtaposed with D'Argo being forced to give in to his darker nature - and the past that must remind him of.
Thank you very much for the *lovely* comments :) Feedback is always appreciated, no matter how long or short - and don't worry about repeating yourself ;)

For me too this was one of the very first eps when I suspected I would be a fan of this show and then DNA Mad Scientist aired and I KNEW for sure!
