Farscape Picspam: Jeremiah Crichton

Jeremiah Crichton in ten pictures.

I'd say this was arguably the worst episode of the series, but I don't know who would argue it isn't. Maybe people who really, really, REALLY hate DALD.

Jeremiah Crichton

- Feedback is lovely :-)

I like this a lot, I think you captured the essence of this episode wonderfully, nicely summing it up with Aeryn’s look in the end ;)

Thanks ;)

Now I almost want to watch the episode again. Almost. :)

I love the pic with Crichton reclining on the module. Pretty, pretty sky!

And I just had a revelation (I'm slow, you see) - now I know where Crichton's original pants went! Duh!

[identity profile] nebari-rebel.livejournal.com 2011-11-04 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! I'm slower than you because I didn't realize where they went until just now!

My favorite thing about the episode is that we get more evidence that Rygel was probably a pretty good Dominar, better than most, all things considered. I can't pay attention to the plot though and there is SO MUCH BOREDOM. And orange and purple. And that dead rat stapled to John's chin. I did find this pretty shot of Zhaan, but it didn't fit my Ridiculous Beard Theme.

That is a great shot of Zhaan!

The faux beard is very distracting. Maybe because, among other things, it looks so...combed?

[identity profile] sayuri-x.livejournal.com 2011-11-04 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL,

Fake beard is fake! LOL

I haven't watched this episode in years, it probably is my least fav in Season 1 apart from Rhapsody in Blue.

I want to make an icon from that Rygel cap. Just the way you coloured it.

[identity profile] nebari-rebel.livejournal.com 2011-11-04 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I had a bunch of Rygel shots done, but they didn't form a coherent story either, so I said screw it, let's showcase the beard ;)

I didn't think I liked RIB either but when I did the picspam I was intrigued. This just made me kind of queasy and bored.

Feel free to make icons from any of my picspam graphics :)

[identity profile] vinegar-dog.livejournal.com 2011-11-04 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL about the pants, I actually never thought about that either...however if it means that leather was in after this, I am all for it!

Great picspam again...my gosh that beard is rdiculous, what were they thinking? Aeryn's face is priceless in the last one.

I must honestly say that your picspam is way better than the actual ep! :DD

It's a low bar, but I am still flattered LOL Thank you!

Aeryn's face reflects my feelings towards the episode ;)

I stand by the rule that even the worst Farscape episode is a notch above the best in other shows. And yes, I'm a tiny bit biased... :-D

That stated, I laughed out loud in seeing Aeryn's expression just after four funny-beard shots: it looked almost as a commentary on the appearance of that beard! LOL Brilliant....

There's one big (IMHO) saving grace in this episode: the soundtrack. It's one of the best from the first soundtrack CD.

Great picspam! TFS

No almost - that's exactly what I was going for ;) When I think of this episode I think Fake Beard, Rygel Does Something, WTF.

I shall have listen to the music again, I completely forget it :)

Thanks for stopping by!

If you have the CD called "Farscape Original Soundtrack" it's track n. 10 "Trouble in Paradise"

If not... I might be able to do something about it :-)

I definitely think her expression is a reaction to his beard. It's astonishing they ever got together after she'd seen him with THAT THING.

Rygel, OTOH, seems quite amused by the beard.

Which shows she can be a very forgiving AND forgetting person... :-)

Oddly enough, JC appeals to the part of me that loves ridiculous things like Universal Soldier and Gilligan's Island. It's nowhere near one of my favourite eps, but as my favourite eps all tend to be universally depressing, I like the happy ending, bright colours and badness of this ep. Feels good that they come back for John and that the womrn get to do some awesome saving-the-menfolk.

That beard really is terrible though.

My mother's thoughts on the episode are similar to yours; she's always trying to get me to rewatch it, pointing out the good, but I just can't sit through most of it. But I do love the idea of the episode, and that Aeryn & Zhaan save the day.

Thanks for commenting!

Oh, Jeremiah Crichton isn't the worst. Vitas Mortis is slightly worse IMO... :P At least JC has all the pretty scenery, which makes it just PERFECT for a picspam! Wow, these are beyond pretty! Love the colors and light and softness and everything. The pic choices are perfect too.

Okay, trying to pick favorites is hard (I really like all of them), but I'd give that honor at least to 2 (I LOVE the background, the color is gorgeous and I don't know it it's the case but it sort of looks like you've used some sort of slight radial blur, it's awesome), 3 (the whole shot is really pretty, I love the colors of the sea and sky), 4 (the planet is wow), and 5 ( I love what you did with the light and contrast). Also, the last one is weirdly hilarious.

Lovely job!

I love this feedback, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, but also guilty and regretful that I didn't take this episode more seriously. The copious amount of beard shots were my way of giving up and saying it wasn't worth it. But I should know better. ALL FARSCAPE EPISODES ARE WORTH IT =D

Anyway, I really appreciate the feedback and am happy you like the set. I found the natural sunlight in this episode very tricky (not difficult, I just had to adopt a totally different approach). And yeah, Aeryn's face is awesome and sums up my feelings towards the episode LOL

Thank you again!

Hi. I enjoyed some ideas in the episode, Zhaan and Aeryn, the soundtrack and these caps all much more than I actually enjoyed the complete episode. :p

Oh - and I love DALD. Prime Chi, Zhaan, Ryge. What a coincidence that it got the least inspired plot in the whole series. But Chi, Zhaan and Ryge are still awesome in it. So I love it dearly.

[identity profile] nebari-rebel.livejournal.com 2011-11-12 09:36 am (UTC)(link)
Hello! Thank you for the feedback - agree the episode isn't completely without merit, but I just can't get into it. My first time through the series I unknowingly skipped it (well, the person who was scaping me skipped it on purpose) and in rewatches I have so little patience for it. Part of that is knowing Chiana will FINALLY be there in the next episode, but part of it is that JC is just really poorly executed.

I've written impassioned defenses of DALD in the past and am not one of those people who see it as abjectly terrible, but again, it's the execution that fails for me. John inadvertently abandoned on a planet? Chi, Ryg, Zhaan, and Pilot having to save themselves with the others believed dead? Both terrific premises. But I have so much trouble with the details.

Probably moreso with DALD, since I love Chi & Rygel together so much and feel like they deserved a much better spotlight episode. I'd love to write a fic someday that takes the basic idea behind DALD and gives it a Film Noir spin, instead of Law & Order.

Thanks for stopping by!

Someone else has tried defending DALD?? I am now happier. Maybe because it didn't feature the star it didn't get that much effort. Very funny way of putting it "a film noir spin, instead of Law & Order" and it is exactly what was needed. JC was out right misfire. The ferret on his chin is funny but mainly the problem is defaulting to standard television mode with the tribe and things. Kind of like Farscape if produced by The Lost World people. Thankfully that would be a rare problem in Farscape!

LOL, I dug up my defense/analysis that I posted on TWoP ages ago: http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/index.php?showtopic=3163270&st=0

I like the episode a lot less now, but still don't think it's the absolute bottom of the barrel and it could have been so much better with a better plot.

I also know of at least one person (ScorpSik, we post on http://terrafirmascapers.com/ ) who has it in their favorite episode list, so you're definitely not alone :)

Maybe because it didn't feature the star it didn't get that much effort.

I agree. Not that it was a deliberate slight to the actors and characters, but that most of the energy and time was devoted to John and whatever was left over only goes so far.

ETA - I'm Arevhat on TWoP and Terra Firma.
